Indian Cinema’s legendary actress and active politician Hema Malini attended the Civil Investiture Ceremony at Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi to accept the Padma Vibhushan on behalf of her late husband, Dharmendra. President Droupadi Murmu conferred the posthumous honour, recognising the legendary actor’s six-decade contribution to Indian cinema.
Dharmendra was awarded the Padma Vibhushan—India’s second-highest civilian honour.
Dressed in a baby pink saree, Hema Malini walked up to the stage to receive the award from President Murmu.
The moment was highly emotional for the family, with their daughter Ahana Deol spotted getting teary-eyed in the audience.
The award celebrates a towering legacy of over 300 films that established Dharmendra as a cultural icon and the original Bollywood’s ‘He-Man’ .
