Aishwarya’s Debut & Bobby’s Comeback: ‘Aur Pyaar Ho Gaya’

Released in 1997, “Aur Pyaar Ho Gaya remains an iconic milestone in Indian cinema. It famously marked the Bollywood debut of former Miss World Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and provided a notable comeback project for Bobby Deol.

The Rahul Rawail directorial movie centers on Ashi (Aishwarya Rai) and Bobby (Bobby Deol), who fall in love under unexpected circumstances while dealing with their traditional families.

The soundtrack of the film is widely considered one of its greatest assets, composed by the legendary Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan with lyrics penned by Javed Akhtar. Tracks like ‘Meri Saanson Mein’ and ‘Koi Jaane Koi Na Jaane’ quickly emerged as blockbuster hits and continue to be celebrated as timeless romantic favorites. Tragically, the maestro Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan passed away just one day after the film’s theatrical release.

Whilst the movie itself had a moderate box-office run, it was a launching pad for Aishwarya Rai, cementing her place in the Hindi film industry. Her performance as the free-spirited Ashi earned her critical acclaim and a Star Screen Award for Most Promising Newcomer.
