Prime Minister Modi flagged-off India’s first indigenous hydrogen-powered train in Haryana. Operating on the 89-km Jind-Sonipat route, the 10-coach train uses advanced hydrogen fuel cells to generate electricity onboard, producing zero carbon emissions and emitting only water vapour.
The 89-km route features 12 intermediate stoppages: Jind City, Pandu Pindara, Lalit Khera, Bhambeva, Ishapur Kheri, Butana, Khandrai, Gohana, Rabhra, Lath, Mohana, and Barwasni.
Equipped with a 3,200 HP hydrogen propulsion system,
it is among the most powerful hydrogen-fuelled trainsets globally. Features a multi-layer safety system to continuously monitor and detect potential heat, flames, smoke, and hydrogen leaks.
The launch includes a dedicated hydrogen storage, compression, and refuelling facility set up directly at Jind.
