Prime Minister Modi joined regional counterparts at the
Yrys Oreo Congress Hall on Tuesday 1 September for the traditional “family photo,” marking a key visual highlight of the 26th Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Summit.
The group photograph, a staple of the geopolitical alliance, featured the Indian Prime Minister standing alongside prominent Eurasian leaders, including Chinese President Xi Jinping, Russian President Vladimir Putin, and Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian.
Ahead of the official photo session, observers noted a brief, candid moment of diplomacy. Prime Minister Modi, President Putin, and President Xi Jinping were seen sharing a light moment and speaking briefly together before stepping into their designated positions for the group photograph.
The 2026 summit carries significant diplomatic weight, marking the 25th anniversary of the founding of the SCO bloc. With leaders from across the region gathered in the Kyrgyz capital, the core agenda for this landmark session focuses heavily on enhancing regional security, advancing anti-terrorism cooperation, boosting bilateral trade, and accelerating digital and energy connectivity across Eurasia.
