Mandakini embraces serene life of spirituality and community wellness

Former Bollywood icon Mandakini, widely celebrated for her iconic debut in Raj Kapoor’s “Ram Teri Ganga Maili” has successfully transitioned away from commercial cinema to dedicate her life to personal harmony, family, and holistic wellness.

The actress achieved overnight stardom when legendary filmmaker Raj Kapoor cast her as Ganga in the 1985 classic. Following a series of notable appearances in subsequent film projects, she chose to step back entirely from the commercial movie industry in the mid-1990s
to prioritize a serene, private lifestyle far removed from the media spotlight.

In the years after her exit from cinema, Mandakini experienced a profound spiritual awakening, embracing Buddhism and becoming a dedicated follower of the Dalai Lama. This spiritual path led to her marriage with
Dr. Kagyur T. Rinpoche Thakur, a former Buddhist monk. Together, the couple has focused on raising their two children, Rabbil and Rabze Innaya, while establishing a life deeply rooted in simplicity and harmony.

Today, Mandakini actively extends her commitment to personal peace to the wider community by teaching Tibetan yoga and meditation. Alongside her husband, she champions natural healing initiatives and supports a wellness center in Mumbai, offering guidance to those seeking physical and mindfulness-based rejuvenation.

Her graceful journey from Bollywood fame to a quiet life of purpose serves as an enduring example of finding deep fulfillment outside of the public eye. Mandakini remains a beloved figure in Indian cinema history, proving that life after stardom can be beautifully defined by inner peace, purposeful service, and quiet devotion.
