Union Home Minister Amit Shah has once again praised Prime Minister Modi’s work ethic and dedication to public servic saying that Modi has served continuously for more than 24 years without taking a holiday. Shah made the remark while celebrating Modi’s milestone of completing 8,931 days as a head of government,
combining his tenure as Chief Minister of Gujarat and Prime Minister of India.
According to Shah, this long period of service reflects what he described as Modi’s sheer commitment to the nation and its people. He said Modi’s decades in government have been defined by hard work, public service and a “Nation First” approach. The Union Home Minister also highlighted areas such as welfare for poorer citizens, infrastructure and development projects, and India’s growing presence on global platforms while describing what he sees as the impact of Modi’s leadership.
Amit Shah had made a similar claim in a September 2025 interview, saying Modi was the only person he had seen who had not taken a holiday in 24 years and that his energy and working intensity had continued to increase. It is important to note that the not a single holiday” statement is Amit Shah’s description of Modi’s working record, rather than a separately audited measure of every day during those 24 years.
Politically, supporters view Modi’s long tenure and demanding schedule as evidence of extraordinary dedication, while critics argue that a leader’s performance should ultimately be assessed through governance outcomes, economic performance, employment, institutions and public accountability. Regardless of political opinion, Modi’s journey from Gujarat Chief Minister to three-term Prime Minister has made him one of the most consequential figures in contemporary Indian politics.
