Former Pakistan cricketer Basit Ali has shared an emotional tribute following the passing of veteran actor Nana Patekar. The two first connected back in 1994, sparking a friendship that quietly endured across borders for more than thirty years.
Amidst moments of personal hardship, the actor showed deep care for Basit and his family. When Basit’s mother was hospitalized, Nana regularly called to offer prayers and listen to her stories. Even following her passing, he stayed in touch to check on the former cricketer’s well-being.
The actor extended the same warmth when Basit faced a serious heart issue. After Basit returned home following a stent procedure, Nana sent a message to ask how the treatment went and encouraged him to rest.
Usually speaking once or twice a month, the two shared a bond that felt far more genuine than a typical celebrity acquaintance. Basit often playfully called the 75-year-old actor a young man, unable to accept that such a vibrant and compassionate soul is gone.
