Akshay meets Uttarakhand CM talks on film policy

Veteran actor-peoducer Akshay Kumar paid a courtesy visit to Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami at his official residence in Dehradun on October 18, 2026. The meeting took place against the backdrop of Kumar’s ongoing production schedule in the region for director Anees Bazmee’s upcoming comedy film.

Amidst the cordial interaction, Chief Minister Dhami and Akshay engaged in detailed discussions regarding the Uttarakhand Film Policy 2024 and explored strategic measures to further establish the hilly state as a premier national and international filming destination. The conversation focused on maximizing the use of the state’s diverse geographical conditions, rich cultural heritage, and natural landscapes to attract high-budget cinematic projects.

The Uttarakhand CM emphasized that the arrival of major motion pictures plays a pivotal role in strengthening the identity of Uttarakhand within the global entertainment industry. He stated that the primary objective of the state government is to not only facilitate seamless film production but also to stimulate local economic growth by generating employment and self-employment opportunities for regional artists, technicians, and local youth.

The growth in film tourism is projected to simultaneously boost allied sectors, including the hospitality industry, local transport networks, and commercial markets.
Highlighting the structural advancements made under the latest film policy, the Chief Minister noted that the government has successfully simplified and expedited administrative procedures. Through the implementation of an online single-window clearance system managed by the Uttarakhand Film Development Council, shooting permissions across various state government departments are now processed and granted within a single week.

The high-profile meeting coincided with the local filming schedule of Anees Bazmee’s untitled family comedy entertainer. Akshay alongside co-star Raashii Khanna, has recently been filming a major song sequence and critical scenes across several locations in Dehradun, Rishikesh, Mussoorie, and the Landour area. The film, which also features Vidya Balan, marks the first on-screen collaboration between Kumar and Khanna. Production is moving swiftly as the team works toward wrapping up the final phases of principal photography.
