The much-anticipated 3D adaptation of the ancient epic Ramayana achieved a historic milestone for Indian cinema with its grand world premiere at the prestigious David Geffen Theatre inside the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures in Los Angeles. Directed by Nitesh Tiwari and spearheaded by visionary producer Namit Malhotra alongside co-producer Yash, the screening marked a deliberate strategy to introduce Indian storytelling to mainstream global audiences rather than relying solely on the traditional diaspora market.
Malhotra described the star-studded Hollywood screening as his personal Oscar moment, reflecting the massive scale and ambition behind the project. The cinematic reimagining features Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama, Sai Pallavi as Sita, and Yash taking on the formidable role of Ravana. With the first installment set for a global theatrical release on November 5, 2026, and the second part scheduled for Diwali 2027, the presentation showcases the growing global footprint and creative evolution of Indian cinema on the world stage.
