Gaurav targets Priyanka Gandhi in 7 crore rupee ticket scandal claim

A political controversy has emerged after Gaurav Kumar, husband of former Haryana Mahila Congress general secretary Suchitra Devi, publicly accused Congress leaders of taking approximately ₹7 crore in exchange for an election ticket that was allegedly never provided.

Kumar has also named Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra in his allegations, demanding accountability and the return of the money he claims to have paid.

On October 28, Kumar protested outside 10 Janpath in New Delhi, drawing attention to his allegations. Speaking to the media, he claimed that money had been collected on the promise of securing an election ticket for his wife.
He alleged that regardless the substantial payment, the promised ticket was never given.

Amidst his protest, Kumar accused Priyanka Gandhi Vadra of involvement in the alleged transaction. However, there is no independently established evidence that she personally received ₹7 crore.
The allegations remain disputed and should not be treated as proven facts.

The controversy follows earlier allegations concerning payments allegedly made to obtain a Congress ticket in Haryana.

Reports indicate that a police complaint was registered in connection with the alleged transactions. However, the existence of a complaint does not establish that the accused individuals committed wrongdoing.

Haryana Congress president Rao Narender Singh earlier rejected the allegations as baseless. The accusations against Priyanka Gandhi have not been independently substantiated.

The controversy raises questions over transparency in political ticket distribution. If Kumar possesses documentary evidence supporting his allegations, it should be examined through a fair investigation.

Political accountability is important, but accusations must be tested against evidence before conclusions are drawn.
