PM Narendra Modi on Thursday caught up with Guneet Monga and Kartiki Gonsalves, producer and director respectively of
The Elephant Whisperers honor with Oscar award at the 95th Academy Awards in
Los Angeles.
Modi lauded the award-winning women and the team for having made India proud with their work.
Taking to twitter handle PM Modi shared a picture from their meeting and wrote that the cinematic brilliance and success of ‘The Elephant Whisperers’ has drawn global attention as well as acclaim.
Adding that he had the opportunity to catch up with the exceptional team associated with it. They have made India very proud.
‘The Elephant Whisperers’, is a nature documentary movie, which talks about how a couple (Bomman and Bellie) in south India, devote their lives to taking care of an orphaned baby elephant and their bond.
The documentary film went on to win the award for the ‘Best Documentary Short Film’ at the global platform.
Director Kartiki, who graced the Oscars stage with producer Guneet Monga on bagging the Oscars delivered a powerful speech at the podium on being honoured with the perstigious award.
In her acceptance speech, the Kartiki, director of The Elephant Whisperers attributed that she stands to speak on the sacred bond between us and the natural world for the respect of indigenous communities and empathy towards other living beings we share our space with and finally for coexistence.
She thanked the Academy for recognising their film, highlighting indigenous people and animals.
