Big setback for Rohit Sharma from BCCI ahead of T20 World Cup
Ironically, Rohit Sharma gets a big setback BCCI ahead of T20 World Cup. The Board confirms of giving no assurance to the India Team Skipper in regard to his place in T20 squad.
Earlier, reports were doing the rounds that Rohit wanted an assurance from the apex body prior to agreeing to lead the team in the global tournament, which will be played in the West Indies and USA in June next 2024. This confirmation comes from Jay Shah, Secretary of the BCCI. There is a belief that Rohit should be made a part of the squad for the June 3-30 ICC tournament. Some media reports indicate that the 36-year-old has sought clarity on his role in the T20 team.
Notedly, Rohit hasn’t played a T20I since the last T20 World Cup and Suryakumar Yadav was recently appointed Team India’s captain for the three-match T20I series against South Africa in Hardik Pandya’s absence.
Jay Shah further added that they have a T20I series against Afghanistan and the Indian Premier League before the T20 World Cup and a good decision will be taken.

Shah also provided an update on Hardik’s fitness claiming that hev is at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru and is working hard for his return.
The medical staff is monitoring him on a daily basis. He could be fit even before the Afghanistan series.
The BCCI official also made it known that Mohammed Shami could play in the two-match Test series against the Proteas. Shami’s ankle injury is bothering him since the ICC World Cup 2023.
Jay Shah added that Shami could play the Test series against South Africa. Despite not at the NCA at the moment but will go there. We are confident that he will be fine.
Earlier the BCCI had confirmr that the pacer is going through medical treatment and his availability for Tests against South Africa is subject to fitness.
