Maharashtra-Goa travel goes expensive – Travellers need to pay toll to enter Goa
Sadly,Tourists from Karnataka and Maharashtra travelling to Goa now may have to pay toll.
In a meeting of Chief Ministers and Road Transport Directors of the three states held in Panaji Goa on Saturday, Union Road Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari issued directives for the installation of toll booths at the entry point of Goa state along the borders of Maharashtra and Karnataka states.
The meeting was organized in Panaji, Goa. At the meeting, Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, Union Minister of State V. K. Singh, Union Minister Shripad Naik, Minister Ravindra Chavan along with senior officials from the three states were present.
A proposal has been submitted by Goa government to the Union Minister for Road Transport & Highways Nitin Gadkari to which Gadkari has also given a positive response. However, it has not yet been decided when the toll booths will be installed and when the toll collection will start.
In the meeting, Minister Gadkari took a good look at the officials and contractors on the road highway project in Maharashtra. He has clarified that the deadline for completing the incomplete projects till February has been given and there will be no shortage of funds anywhere.
After reviewing the Mumbai Goa highway he made some suggestions to the authorities in this meeting.
Gadkari also gave instructions to complete the highway connecting Mopa Airport by the end of February 2024 and expressed his satisfaction with the work.
Although the highway work has come to a halt at some places in the road from Patradevi to Canacona, instructions have been given for its completion.
