Mumbai Police issues order to ban gathering in till February 6 on eve of Republic Day
Mumbai Police has issued orders to ban gathering on the eve of Republic Day since citizens gather in large numbers at Shivaji Park in Dadar.
In a bid to avoid any untoward incidents, Mumbai Police has issued orders under Section 144. Gatherings and processions of five or more people have been banned in the city.
Meanwhile, thousands of Maratha activists, including Manoj Jarange, have announced massive protests in Mumbai from January 26 and are headed towards Mumbai.
Jarange demands for issuance of Kunbi caste certificate to the
Maratha community. Therefore, the agitation by the Maratha community in crowded Mumbai may disturb peace and there is a possibility of damage to property.
According to the Police Commissioner, this order has come into effect from Wednesday, January 24 and will remain in force for the next 15 days that is till 6 February.
Meanwhile, Manoj Jarange Patil has decided to face any situation. Therefore, the administration has also said that there is no hindrance in the movement. About two to two and a half crore people of Maratha community will come to Mumbai.
It has been warned that the Maratha community will show its strength on January 26.
