Vivek Oberoi rings in Nation’s 78th Independence Day in Greece
Vivek Oberoi, the actor blessed with powerhouse talent celebrated Nation’s 78th Independence far away from the shores of India in Greece. revealed he is celebrating India’s 78th Independence Day in Greece. He will be travelling to Dubai to participate in an event organised to honour Indians for their contributions towards UAE. Although he is not in India, Vivek took pride in revisiting the country’s landmark in the past decade. From India’s recovery and support amidst the Covid-19 pandemic to India’s business standings.
He then revisited his memories of celebrating Independence Day as a child and admitted that I-Day was just another holiday for him as a kid. And that if he has to be honest, he thinks 15th August meant a holiday in school for him. But it was also a partial thing where you had to wake up early and go for the flag hoisting ceremony after which you got chocolate or mithai that was distributed in school and hung out with friends for a while and not have to go back to class and come back home for the day. So it was a mixed bag of fun as a kid.
However, Vivek’s perception transformed when he started spending time with his Nana (maternal grandfather), who was a war hero. His thought procession on what August 15 means changed a lot when he started spending time with his nana, who was a decorated war hero. He fought three wars for the Indian Army and was a Paramveer Seva medal awardee and Mahavir Chakra awardee. His stories and his influence on me changed my perception of what that flag means. That changed my perception of the sacrifices that were made, it made it personal.
Now on 15 August, when he sees the flag hoisted, he sees a sense of pride and also emotions and sometimes tears run down from his eyes.
Though sidelined by the industry, he has no qualms and never regrets for it. He feels proud that he is able to translate that into his children, the next generation going forward. What truly India means, what we are, and the sense of pride we take in being India, he thinks that makes a difference.
On the work front, Vivek was last seen in Indian Police Force.
Off late he has turned entrepreneur and has ventured into realty business.
