Recently Bobby Deol shared his admiration for brother Sunny Deol and father Dharmendra. He went on to explain that it took him a long time to become close to Sunny Deol and that father Dharmendra was ‘never a friend while growing up’

He further added that their bond wasn’t always so warm. As a child, he felt like he had two fathers, and it took time for him to build a close bond with Sunny and Dharmendra.

On the Humans of Bombay YouTube channel, Bobby shared that the significant age gap amid him and his brother, Sunny, led Sunny to treat him like a son rather than a sibling. Sunny was very protective and often corrected Bobby, striving to ensure he had the best. As a result, it took Bobby a while to transition from feeling like he had two father figures to building a close friendship with Sunny.

Bobby explained that Dharmendra’s strictness was typical of the time and influenced by his small-town upbringing. He noted that small-town values shaped Dharmendra’s approach to parenting, which naturally translated into his own strictness. Although Dharmendra wasn’t harsh, he wasn’t very involved in Bobby’s daily life due to his busy work schedule, often only seeing him briefly late at night or early in the morning. Things have improved significantly over time, according to Bobby. He reflected on how growing up, the line between respect and fear was often blurred, and communication with his parents was challenging. However, the dynamic has shifted as his parents have grown older and become more vulnerable, reversing their roles where he now feels the responsibility to care for them. This shift, he noted, is a natural part of life’s cycle.

Bobby and Sunny had shared screen space in movies ‘Dillagi’, ‘Apne’, ‘Yamla Pagla Deewana’.

On the work front, Bobby Deol made a notable comeback with his role as Abrar Haque in Animal. Although he had limited screen time, his portrayal of the menacing antagonist received widespread acclaim from both fans and critics. His talent for conveying intense emotions with minimal dialogue stood out as a highlight in his career.
