Rajinikanth is set to feature as a supercop in
TJ Gnanavel’s directorial Vettaiyan. The film’s prevue was launched at a star-studded event in Chennai on Friday 20 September. Amitabh Bachchan plays Rajnikant’s superior in the film which is TJ Gnanavel’s third film after Jai Bhim and Kootathil Oruthan.

While Rajinikanth takes on dangerous enemies in the film, Amitabh Bachchan plays his senior, Sathyadev, who doesn’t agree to his ways of dealing with criminals.

Along with Rajinikanth and Amitabh Bachchan, the film also features Manju Warrier, Fahadh Faasil, Rana Daggubati, and many more in key roles. It hits the theatres on October 10, 2024.

One thing that might not go down well with the fans is Amitabh Bachchan’s voiceover in the prevue. Actor Prakash Raj, who played a pivotal role in Gnanavel’s Jai Bhim, has dubbed for Amitabh in Tamil.

Like Jai Bhim, Vettaiyan also deals with encounter killings and human rights violations.

The audio launch of Vettaiyan saw the attendance by Rajinikanth, Anirudh Ravichander,Rana Daggubati, Dushara and Ritika Singh, among others. Amitabh was missing at the event.

Meanwhile, Rajinikanth’s character’s name is yet to be revealed. The film’s title is in Tamil, which means hunter.
