Arshdeep Singhdocked 15% match fee for breach of ICC Code of Conduct

Going by the reports of the incident in the midst of the 2026 T20 World Cup final, pacer Arshdeep Singh was
docked 15% of his match fee and received one demerit point for a Level 1 breach of the ICC Code of Conduct.

Arshdeep breached Article 2.9, relating to “throwing a ball near a player in an inappropriate manner” amid the 11th over of the New Zealand innings, striking batter Daryl Mitchell on the pads.
Arshdeep accepted the sanction since being his first offence in a
24-month period.

Meanwhile since the bowler accepted the sanction proposed by Andy Pycroft of the Emirates ICC Elite Panel of Match Referees there wasn’t a need for a formal hearing.

Mitchell and Arshdeep were seen shaking hands at the end of the over. India defeated New Zealand by 96 runs in the final to capture a record third T20 World Cup title.

Reportedly, A Level 1 breach carries a minimum penalty of an official reprimand, a maximum penalty of
50 per cent of a player’s match fee, and one or two demerit points. When a player reaches four or more demerit points within a 24-month period, they are converted into suspension points and a player is banned.
