It was 58 years ago (1968), Dharmendra solidified his status as a “Dhurandhar” (master/powerhouse) of Hindi cinema by featuring in the year’s highest-grossing film, Aankhen. The Ramanand Sagar’s directorial spy thriller moulded him as a massive superstar, with the film embedded with pioneering foreign locations and a dashing performance as a secret agent.
Aankhen was considered a massive gamble at the time due to its high budget but turned out to be a huge commercial success, establishing Dharmendra as a leading action star before he was known as the ‘He-Man’.
