It’s been roughly 36 years ago, when Sunny Deol replaced Mithun Chakraborty in the blockbuster 1990 film Ghayal, a change driven by his father, Dharmendra, who took over production to secure the role for his son after Sunny’s career faced a slump with multiple flops.
Initially Rajkumar Santoshi wrote and planned the film with Mithun Chakraborty.
However, Dharmendra took over the film, deciding to produce it under Vijayeta Films for Sunny Deol.
The film turned out to be a massive hit, winning 7 Filmfare Awards and saving Sunny Deol’s career.
Reportedly, Mithun gave up the film due to his respect for Dharmendra.
