Actors and producers Richa Chadha and Ali Fazal are launching the inaugural Indian Film Festival of New Zealand (TIFFNZ). The festival’s official brand launch will occur on June 2, 2026, in Auckland, featuring a special red-carpet screening of their debut production venture, “Girls Will Be Girls”.
The official launch event takes place in Auckland on June 2, 2026, followed by a launch screening in Christchurch on June 3, 2026. The festival will make its official four-day debut in October 2026 across major cities including Auckland, Wellington, and Christchurch.
Founded and directed by Petrina D’Rozario, the festival will showcase nearly 30 films including both short films and features aiming to amplify South Asian voices and build creative ties between India and New Zealand. Girls Will Be Girls, which previously earned acclaim at the Sundance Film Festival and the Independent Spirit Awards, will headline the promotional events.
