Ranveer drags FWICE to court over “Don 3” ban

Veteran actor Ranveer Singh has served a formal legal notice to the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE). This escalation follows the film workers’ body issuing a non-cooperation directive advising members not to work with the actor.

The dispute stems from his sudden exit from Excel Entertainment’s Don 3, for which producers Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani claimed a pre-production loss of ₹45 crore. Ranveer’s team sent the legal notice challenging the non-cooperation directive, a move supported by industry bodies like CINTAA, who have called for disputes to be resolved through proper legal or mediation channels rather than unilateral bans.

Veteran producer T P Aggarwal has also filed a petition before the Bombay Civil Court at Dindoshi, actively challenging the FWICE and IMPPA’s legal authority to issue such non-cooperation directives against film personalities.

FWICE claimed it issued the directive after the Don 3 producers alleged Singh abruptly withdrew at an advanced stage. In contrast, Singh’s representatives maintain this is an employment and contractual issue that falls outside the union’s jurisdiction.
