US President Donald Trump lavished praise on Prime Minister Modi, calling him a “great leader,” a “very tough cookie,” and a “tough guy.” The remarks were made in an interview following their meeting on the sidelines of the G7 Summit.
Trump listed PM Modi alongside Chinese President Xi Jinping as the world leaders he most admires in terms of power, leverage, and the ability to execute on the global stage. He commended Modi for smartly keeping India out of major wars and praised his ability to maintain a “great calmness” while serving as a firm leader.
Trump expressed admiration for Modi’s consistent grip on leadership, noting that he has been in power for more than 12 years a stark contrast to the frequent turnover of leaders previously seen in India.
