Voices of One, Heart of All: Gulzar’s New Anthem Bridges a Nation’s Divides

Gulzar’s patriotic anthem, “Ek Akela Hindustani, Do Mile Toh Hindustan” (released June 21 for World Music Day), was composed by Sourendro-Soumyojit. Aimed at bridging India’s cultural divides, the eight-minute track has been likened to the classic “Mile Sur Mera Tumhara” and and highlights education, child welfare, and unity.

Written by the legendary lyricist Gulzar, the anthem addresses the cultural, linguistic, and religious divides in modern India by promoting a message of togetherness.

The song strongly advocates for the nation’s youth, prioritizing child welfare and education with poignant lines such as, “Desh Ki Jab Bhi Fikar Toh Bacho Ka Bhi Fikar Karo”.
The track brings together an impressive, diverse lineup of celebrated voices in Indian music featuring Shankar Mahadevan, Hariharan, Vishal & Rekha Bhardwaj, Shilpa Rao, Benny Dayal, and Kalpana Patowary.
