Maharashtra Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Commissioner Tukaram Mundhe has strongly defended the show-cause notices issued to Bollywood celebrities Shah Rukh Khan, Ajay Devgn and Tiger Shroff over their involvement in alleged surrogate advertisements for pan masala brands like”Vimal Elaichi”
The FDA Commissioner emphasized that public figures cannot distance themselves from the products they promote, stating that endorsers share equal
accountability under Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) regulations to ensure that all promotions are truthful, transparent, and compliant with safety guidelines.
He further clarified that the legal liability is absolute, warning that the celebrities face times of upto
₹10 lakh, while the regulatory authority simultaneously intensifies strict legal action against the manufacturers and supply-chain distributors of these products.
