Hridayanath Mangeshkar plans Asia’s biggest hospital in Pune as dedication to sisters Lata and Usha

Following the end of an era with the passing away of sisters Asha and
Lata plans are afoot by brother, Hridaynath Mangeshkar to construct Asia’s largest hospital in Pune and to dedicate it to the memory of both
Asha and Lata .

The proposed project is likely to be named the “Lata-Asha Institute of Medical Sciences” or “Lata-Asha Mangeshkar Ayurvidhya Sansthan”. The project, located in Pune, is planned to include a 40-acre, 1,000-bed super-specialty facility and a museum showcasing the Mangeshkar family’s musical legacy.

Asha Bhosle’s granddaughter, Zanai Bhosle (often spelled Janai), has been active amidst this time, confirming her grandmother’s treatment prior to her passing and breaking down amidst the final rites. She has often shared memories and expressed her dedication to carrying forward the family’s musical legacy.

The hospital project was originally envisioned by the family roughly 25 years ago but couldn’t be completed at that time.

The announcement was made after Asha Bhosle’s last rites, held with state honors at Mumbai’s Shivaji Park on April 13, 2026.
