Assam CM Biswa Sarms warns WB CMMamata Banerjee of ‘dismissal’ if failure to resign

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has warned that West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee will face dismissal if she does not resign following the BJP’s victory in the 2026 West Bengal Assembly elections, characterizing her refusal to step down as unconstitutional. Supreme Court senior advocate and BJP leader Mahesh Jethmalani used strong language regarding West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s refusal to resign. He said “Kick her out” and went on explicitly state, “If she insists on sticking like a lemming to her chair, then the Governor must unceremoniously dismiss her.

He even referred to her as a “trespasser in the Chief Minister’s office” following the certification of the election results.
He urged the Governor to formally dismiss her and, if necessary, send in the police to “evict her”.

In conclusion he labeled her refusal to resign as an “unpardonable” act and a “challenge to the whole democratic system”.
