Vicky Kaushal is in advanced discussions to board the
much-anticipated 3 Idiots sequel as the “fourth idiot,” bringing a fresh emotional narrative to the franchise.
Kaushal is to play a new key character alongside the original trio of Aamir Khan (Rancho), R. Madhavan (Farhan), and Sharman Joshi (Raju).
Multiple meetings have taken place between Vicky Kaushal, Aamir Khan, and director Rajkumar Hirani, with Kaushal reportedly giving a verbal agreement, pending schedule alignment.
The sequel will take a 10-year leap from the original 2009 blockbuster, exploring the lives and friendships of the characters in a new phase, likely featuring a mix of humor and emotion. Production is expected to start in the second half of 2027, with shooting scheduled to begin after Kaushal wraps up his current commitment to the film Mahavatar.
Kaushal has earlier collaborated with Hirani on Sanju released in 2018 and Dunki in 2023. Reports suggest the film is in its early stages, with the script currently being finalized by Hirani and Abhijat Joshi.
