A nostalgic Bobby Deol reflects on his early years.

Long before he mastered the nuances of filmmaking, Bobby Deol’s initial desire to enter the movie business was driven by a much more personal motive he simply yearned for the widespread adoration that his father enjoyed.

As a young boy, he was deeply moved by the intense adoration his father late Indian Cinema’s legend Dharmendra
eeceived. He didn’t fully grasp what he did until he visited the film sets, where it finally clicked – the reason he was so universally loved was because of his work in the movies.

Bobby Deol’s primary inspiration to become an actor was the genuine, widespread adoration his father, Dharmendra, received from fans. Recalling his childhood, Bobby vividly remembered visiting film sets and being profoundly moved by the deep affection people held for his father, which made him want to follow in his footsteps.

Bobby often accompanied his father to work. He noted that when crowds approached his dad, it wasn’t just viewing him as a superstar, but with deep, personal affection in their eyes. He wanted that exact same long-lasting love.

Bobby learned from his father that staying grounded and meeting people as a normal human being rather than acting like an untouchable star—is what earned the family such lasting respect.
In another cherished memory, Bobby recalled being a young boy with a high fever. Despite returning home visibly exhausted from juggling heavy film shoots, Dharmendra held and hugged him tight until he fell asleep.
