In support of PM Modi’s appeal for national energy conservation, a actor-politician Kamal Haasan released a four-minute video
Emphasizing that “national responsibility must rise above party politics”, Haasan urged citizens to reduce energy use and called on the government to share the burden by lowering VAT on fuel.

Haasan began by speaking as an Indian “deeply concerned by the impact of the Iran war”, noting that global trade routes are blocked and oil prices are rising. Citing how over 60 countries have already imposed energy-saving rules, he noted that we must all do our part, as “governments will come and go, but the nation shall remain.”
