The Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) has taken cognizance of the evolving dispute surrounding Don 3, after reports of Ranveer Singh exiting the film shortly before principal photography.
Ashoke Pandit, Chief Advisor of FWICE, expressed grave concern over the matter, criticizing the increasingly
disruptive trend of leading actors walking away from projects in their final pre-production stages.
Excel Entertainment approached the Producers Guild of India seeking approximately ₹40 crore in compensation, claiming Ranveer Singh’s abrupt exit from ‘Don 3’ derailed extensive pre-production. Because mediation efforts failed to bridge the gap, the guild advised both sides to pursue legal recourse.
The production house cited massive sunk costs after locking key plans, while Ranveer reportedly countered that he shouldn’t be held liable as he did not approve certain stages of the work.
Although senior producers and industry figures attempted to mediate the stalemate, talks collapsed. Both camps held firm, leading the guild to officially step back and advise them to let their legal teams handle it.
Reports indicate that apart from financial tensions, clashes over character direction (including the tone and level of violence) caused a rift.
Project Status: The film’s schedule and final casting remain in limbo.
Ashoke Pandit on Ranveer Singh exit row:
When quizzed which way the decision could go, he said, “they will do something which is justified now and will not allow the industry to be doomed here. Tomorrow, anybody can walk out of the movie. Whatever they will do, will do it in the interest of the industry.
