PoJK human rights activist appeals to PM Modi to intervene

Reportedly, Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK) human rights activist Amjad Ayub Mirza recently made a direct appeal to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, for his intervention to protect the region’s residentsl

Mirza alleges escalating crackdowns by Pakistani agencies against political dissidents, notably targeting the Gilgit-Baltistan Awami Action Committee.
Mirza highlighted that civil and political rights campaigners in Pakistan-occupied Gilgit-Baltistan (PoGB) and PoJK face arbitrary arrests and detentions. He pointed out that multiple members of the Awami Action Committee have been incarcerated for demanding basic economic and political rights.

It’s Mirza’s claim that Pakistani security agencies are preparing for a massive crackdown on the Joint Awami Action Committee, coinciding with a general strike scheduled for June 9.

He requested PM Modi to highlight the alleged human rights abuses at international forums and to support efforts that secure civil liberties and democratic rights for the people of PoJK and Gilgit-Baltistan.
