Shakira will headline at 2026 World Cup opening ceremony

Colombian pop star Shakira will headline the 2026 FIFA World Cup opening ceremony at the historic Estadio Azteca in Mexico City on Thursday June 11, 2026.
Alongside Nigerian Afrobeats artist Burna Boy, she will perform the official tournament anthem, “Dai Dai”.

FIFA announced that the 90 minute pre-match ceremony
which also features performances by J Balvin and South African singer Tyla will kick-off just before the opening match between Mexico and South Africa.

“Dai Dai,” an Italian phrase meaning “let’s go” or “come on,” serves as the tournament’s official track. Following the opening festivities, Shakira is also slated to headline a historic Super Bowl-style halftime show at the World Cup final, held at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey.
