The Bombay High Court has refused to stay the release of Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai, allowing the film to proceed with its scheduled theatrical run. This decision dealt a setback to Vashu Bhagnani’s Puja Entertainment, which sought an emergency injunction over the alleged unauthorized use of the classic songs “Chunnari Chunnari” and “Ishq Sona Hai”.
The court’s decision clears the movie for its global release, though the underlying dispute remains unresolved. In the legal crosshairs are Tips Industries Limited, Ramesh Taurani, Kumar S Taurani, and filmmaker David Dhawan, whom Bhagnani’s production company sued for ₹400 crore.
The court declined to halt the release, citing the advanced stage of the film’s international premiere, though the financial and intellectual property claims will face further hearings.
