Director Advait Chandan has officially stepped away from helming Dharma Productions’ Dostana 2 due to creative differences with the producers. Despite spending nearly seven months developing the film, his creative vision for the project failed to align with the studio’s goals, resulting in an amicable departure.
The high-profile sequel has faced a turbulent production history with multiple reboots and setbacks. The film was first announced in 2019 starring Kartik Aaryan, Janhvi Kapoor, and Lakshya, but production was abruptly halted in 2021 following Kartik’s highly publicized exit
The project was later revived by Dharma Productions with a completely reworked script, tapping Vikrant Massey and Lakshya as the new leads.
Advait Chandan’s departure now leaves the long-delayed movie without a director once again as producers search for a new creative captain.
