Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s inspection of the Zorawar Light Tank highlights India’s push for indigenous, high-altitude military capabilities tailored for deployment along borders like the Himalayas.
Primarily, the 25-tonne tank was designed to counter heavily armoured deployments in oxygen-depleted and challenging terrains like Eastern Ladakh.
Built for high-altitude warfare, the tank boasts amphibious capabilities and can be rapidly transported by air. It combines advanced firepower with ultimate agility. The tank was engineered in record time through a partnership between the DRDO and Larsen & Toubro.
