Prime Minister Modi’s arrival in Bratislava marked the first-ever visit by an Indian Prime Minister to Slovakia since its 1993 independence. He was greeted with a culturally rich reception, blending Slovak hospitality with vibrant tributes to India.
The renowned Lúčnica Ensemble performed a stirring rendition of “Vande Mataram”. In a traditional Slovak bread-and-salt ceremony, the Prime Minister was offered bread and salt, a deeply rooted symbol of friendship, hospitality, and goodwill. The celebrations featured spirited folk dancing by the Kopaniciarik Ensemble from the Myjava region.
Large crowds of the Indian community gathered to welcome him, chanting slogans praising both leaders and their countries.
