Marine Drive promenade to extend into Arabian Sea for 13-lane widening

The iconic Marine Drive boulevard in Mumbai is undergoing a massive redevelopment to improve east-west connectivity and expand public waterfront spaces. The project will include a fresh sea reclamation to extend a brand-new promenade area directly into the sea.

Promenade epxpansion & reclamation: To offset space lost by road widening, approximately 2,296 sq m of land will be reclaimed near Jawahar Bal Bhavan to extend the promenade into the Arabian Sea.

New 13-Lane Corridor: A nearly 300-meter stretch of road near the Coastal Road tunnel exit and Mafatlal Club is being widened to accommodate traffic for the upcoming underground tunnel corridor. The existing eight-lane road is being reconfigured into a 13-lane expressway.

Orange Gate-Marine Drive Tunnel: This ₹8,056 crore twin-tunnel project is currently under construction to provide a seamless east-west link between South Mumbai’s Eastern Freeway and Marine Drive.
