Alka Yagnik assures fans over Health after Padma Bhushan honor

Legendary playback singer Alka Yagnik recently received the prestigious Padma Bhushan honour from President Droupadi Murmu. After the ceremony, she addressed fans’ health concerns regarding her two-year battle with Sensorineural Hearing Loss, stating she is “slowly finding her way back.

Following her public appearance at the Rashtrapati Bhavan, videos of Yagnik requiring walking assistance sparked widespread concern among her fans. In response, she posted an emotional statement on her Instagram: She noted that she purposely stayed out of the spotlight and public eye for the last two years while dealing with difficult health issues.
She thanked the President, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and the Ministry of Home Affairs for the extraordinary honour.

She dedicated the award directly to her listeners, stating the honour belongs to them just as much as it does to her.
She was struck by complete, sudden hearing loss after a flight in June 2024, which doctors diagnosed as Sensorineural Nerve Hearing Loss caused by a viral attack. While composers still approach her, she has had to step away from new singing projects and recordings as she recuperates.

She has previously urged fans and fellow musicians to be cautious regarding prolonged headphone use and exposure to loud music.
