Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge accused the Modi government of executing a “backdoor blueprint” to dismantle constitutional reservations for SC, ST, OBC, and EWS communities by deliberately suppressing permanent government employment.
He further asserted that altering the Constitution is unnecessary to end reservations. The government achieves the same outcome simply by eliminating eligible positions.
Central government vacancies doubled from 4.21 lakh in 2015 to 8.24 lakh in 2024.
The Railway department leaves over 2.40 lakh positions unfilled.
The Defense sector operates with 2.41 lakh vacant posts.
