Congress Leader Rahul Gandhi’s ‘ugly’ behaviour in the house of parliament needs to be viewed very seriously and condemned in the most stringent manner.

First it was ‘Hug’ then ‘Wink’ and now ‘Flying Kiss’ gesture against Union Minister Smriti Irani.

His “Chuma” gesture is absolutely ‘Cheap’ and this being done in Parliament is not in good taste particularly amidst the women. Even his own party leaders are feeling ashamed over the behaviour of Rahul Gandhi.

Union Minister and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Shobha Karandlaje and other party women members on Wednesday have filed a complaint with Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla against Rahul Gandhi over what they allege was his ‘indecent’ behaviour and ‘inappropriate’ gestures towards Union Minister Smriti Irani in the House.

Shobha Karandlaje submitted the letter signed by 21 women BJP members at the Speaker’s chamber, demanding stringent action against Rahul Gandhi.

The letter read “We demand stringent action against such behaviour by the member, which has not only insulted the dignity of the women members in the House, but also brought disrepute and lowered the dignity of this House,” the letter read.

Rahul Gandhi, who delivered his first speech in Parliament after being reinstated as an MP, blew a “Chuma” to BJP MPs. The moment, which was not captured on camera, happened when the Congress leader was walking out of the Lok Sabha premises and Smriti Irani’s speech was underway.

Union Minister and BJP MP Shobha Karandlaje stated that
Such a thing has never been witnessed earlier. We have never seen such a thing in Parliament.

He either winks in the House or indulges in indecent behaviour. We strongly condemn this. We submitted a letter to the Speaker, asking him to find the footage (of the flying kiss) and take action.
All limits have been crossed today,” Karandlaje stated today over the phone.

According to people who witnessed the moment, when Rahul Gandhi was leaving the Lok Sabha premises after his no-trust motion speech, he dropped a few files and as he bent over to pick them up, a few BJP MPs started laughing at him.

They said Rahul Gandhi blew a kiss at the BJP members and walked out.

Lashing out at Rahul Gandhi over the flying kiss, Union Minister of Women and Child Development Smriti Irani called him a “misogynistic man” and and termed it as an obscene act.

“Only a misogynistic man can give a flying kiss to women MPs in Parliament. Such an instance was never witnessed before. This shows what he thinks of women. This is obscene and an embarrassment.

However, Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Priyanka Chaturvedi countered the charges and said, she was at the visitors gallery and Rahul Gandhi did it as a gesture of affection.”

When asked to comment on the outrage expressed by BJP women members, Chaturvedi said, “They (BJP members) said it was only a gesture to them? What are these allegations? What are they angry about? It was a genuine gesture that he (Rahul Gandhi) made. Like the slogan, ‘Mohabbat ki dukan’. They are so used to hate that they cannot accept love.”

Earlier today, Rahul Gandhi participated in the no-confidence debate in the Lok Sabha and attacked the government over the Manipur violence, alleging that its politics “murdered India” in the violence-hit state.
