Mayoori Kango leaves IIT enters Bollywood – quits at her peak to join Google
Meet Mayoori Kango, IITian, MBA, United States who opted for acting as she felt that Bollywood was a benchmark for success.Common people can never imagine that someone would choose to quit Bollywood and opt for a different job. She shocked everyone by bidding adieu to acting to take up a job with Google as a top executive.
It is unbelievable that someone would choose to quit Bollywood and opt for a different job. Anyway, it was her choice.
She appeared in films like ‘Papa Kehte Hain’ and the hit song ‘Ghar se nikalte hi’ and was the emerging star of the Hindi film industry. She last appeared in the film Vamsi and television shows Nargis, Thoda Gham Thodi Khushi, Dollar Babu and Kitty Party.
It seemed like, she was fitting just right in the film industry when in 2003, Mayoori walked out of the life of glitz and glamour and moved to the United States with her husband.
She did her MBA in Marketing and Finance from Baruch College Zicklin School of Business and started working in America between 2004 and 2012.
Reports, however, reveal that she had got through the IIT entrance exam and was selected at IIT Kanpur. However she never took admission and went on to focus on a career in the Film industry.
She came back to India in 2013 and joined a company called Performix as a Managing Director. She then went on to join Google India as Industry Head and has been serving as the Head of Industry-Agency Partnership at Google India since 2019.
