Alia’s launch in Imtiaz Ali directorial “Highway”opened up new opportunities for her
Alia Bhatt’s rise to stardom was with her debut in Karan Johar‘s Student of the Year (SOTY), where she shared screen space with Varun Dhawan and Siddharth Malhotra.
Though, he launched her, yet, it’s his belief that her true “professional launch” came with Imtiaz Ali”s directorial”Highway”.
He further went on to articulate that the film opened new doors for Alia, allowing her to showcase her talent as an actress rather than just a star. Karan, who always believed in Alia’s success, confessed that he never anticipated her becoming a superstar who would inspire future generations of actors. The filmmaker also reflected on the bond he shares with Alia, Varun and Siddharth during the making of SOTY.
While appearing on Komal Nahta’s YouTube show Game Changers, Karan said, “he always thought Alia would be a star, but couldn’t believe his eyes that she would become this kind of actress. He new she was a star and she was a good actress. She is solid, she can face the camera but he always say that her emotional launch is Student of the Year, but her professional launch is Highway.”
