The ‘big’ question has Taapsee Pannu been roped in to feature in the Aitraaz sequel?
As per new report doing the rounds, the actress has been approached to take over the franchise from Priyanka Chopra and Kareena Kapoor. Reports further suggest that while there is no confirmation whether Taapsee has agreed yet or not, but makers are keen to rope in the Phir Aayi Hasseen Dilruba actress for the film.
A source close to the production reveals Taapsee has been given a script reading for ‘Aitraaz 2’, but there’s no confirmation on her end or from the production team yet. Right now, it’s all speculation, but if she does come on board, it will be exciting to watch.”
Reportedly, the film’s announcement was made in November last year when veteran filmmaker and showman Subhash Ghai lauded Priyanka Chopra for flawlessly essaying her bold role in the original film. He wrote on Instagram, “BOLD AND BEAUTIFUL PRIYANKA CHOPRA DARED N DID IT. That’s why cine lovers can not forget her performance even after 20 years today in #AITRAZ – produced under Mukta Arts banner. When she was too apprehensive to do this role of an ardent ambitious woman, she did it with full confidence. Now MUKTA ARTS is ready for AITRAZ 2 with a finest script with 3 years of hard work.
Besides Priyanka Chopra, the film also featured Akshay Kumar and Kareena Kapoor as the leads. While Taapsee Pannu has reportedly been approached for the film, it is unclear who are the other two actors that the makers want to cast. It should also be noted that there has been no official statement from the makers about approaching Taapsee.
Meanwhile, Taapsee Pannu is on shoot for her upcoming thriller, “Gandhari”, directed by Joram filmmaker Devashish Makhija. “Gandhari ensures a riveting storyline filled with relentless determination and intense personal stakes and set against the backdrop of gripping mystery and high-powered action.
It’s for sure the cine audiences will see Taapsee Pannu as a fierce mom on a mission,” reads the plot description from streaming giant Netflix, the Gandhari marks Kanika Dhillon and Taapsee’s sixth collaboration.
