Donald Trump’s new threat sends shockwaves in Indian stock market

Donald Trump’s new threat has sent shockwaves in Indian stock market and many shares fall.

Although While Trump’s latest statements has led to significant losses for Indian pharma stocks, and investors remain cautious as they await further clarity on the U.S. tariff policies.

After US President Donald On Wednesday made fresh statements regarding import tariffs, Indian pharma stocks faced significant sell-offs.

While the broader market showed a remarkable recovery from lower levels, pharma stocks fell down after Trump’s warning.

The BSE Sensex dipped 28.21 points to 75,939.18, while Nifty 50 slipped 12.40 points to 22,932.90.
Trump has proposed imposing tariffs of up to 25% on imports of automobiles, semiconductors, and pharmaceuticals. While he did not clarify which countries would be targeted, the announcement sent shockwaves across markets.

Earlier, Trump had imposed similar tariffs on steel and aluminum, which are set to take effect in March.

Several major Indian pharma stocks experienced sharp declines during Wednesday’s trading:
Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories: Opened at Rs 1166 but dropped nearly 5% to Rs 1127.
Zydus Lifesciences: Fell 5% from its opening price of Rs 890 to Rs 855.
Aurobindo Pharma: Experienced a sharp 7% decline in early trading.
Lupin: Opened at Rs 1950 and fell 4.3% to Rs 1,892.
Abbott Laboratories: Witnessed a 1% dip amidst the session.
