Mohit Suri rendezvouses with YRF for another romance drama
Following the unprecedented success of Saiyaara, plans are afoot by Mohit Suri to collaborate with YRF again for another musical romance drama with an aim to recreate the Saiyaara magic.
Notably Mohit Suri and YRF’s Akshaye Widhani
rendezvoused for the blockbuster film Saiyaara that marked the debut of Ahaan Panday alongside Aneet Padda. The heartbreaking romantic drama went on to script history. Mohit was flooded with offers from all across the industry, with producers willing to splurge pay cheques of unheard-of amounts. However, Mohit and YRF are continuing their creative partnership, capitalising on the success of Saiyaara. A source further shared that the makers have locked the basic screenplay and added, “Mohit Suri and YRF are committed to recreating magic on the big screen. It’s another sweeping romantic film that will explore a brand-new world in this genre.
Like Saiyaara, Mohit Suri will again make this a musical saga. Mohit and Akshaye are committed to bringing back love stories in conversation among audiences, and Aditya Chopra is also focused on exploring this genre further.
Saiyaara is a musical romantic drama directed by Mohit Suri and produced by Yash Raj Films. The film is loosely inspired by the 2004 Korean movie A Moment to Remember and stars newcomers Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda in the lead roles.
Released theatrically on July 18, 2025, Saiyaara received positive reviews from critics who lauded Panday and Padda’s performances, Suri’s direction, the story, and the soundtrack. The film turned out to be a major commercial success, grossing over Rs 577 crore worldwide. It went on to emerge as the second-highest-grossing Hindi film and the second-highest-grossing Indian film of 2025, while also turning out to be as the highest-grossing Indian romantic film of the year.
Following its theatrical run, Saiyaara dropped on Netflix and quickly scripted history. Within five days of release, it turned out to be the most-watched non-English film globally on the platform – a rare feat for an Indian romantic drama.
