Actress Neha Dhupia unlocked on her struggles with mental health amidst slow phases in her career. Regardless her recent success in shows like Single Papa and Perfect Family, the actress admitted to being anxious when faced with a lack of projects.
In a recent interview Neha opened up how work doesn’t always lead to more work in the industry and how she finds inspiration in Akshaye Khanna’s career choices.
Akshaye is acknowledged for being highly selective on his projects and appearing on screen sparingly. Adding that the conversion has to be there. If her work in the latest two shows doesn’t convert into anything, then there is no point. Does work lead to good work? She doesn’t know sometimes… then you see the trajectory of Akshaye Khanna and then you think, they (actors) should also sit at home for 6 years. It is just hoping that work will lead to work.
Neha further recalled about feeling helpless when she wasn’t able to land acting jobs for a period of three to four years. The actress voiced that she does get anxiety when not working.. Even after two decades in the industry, when the lights are out, she does put herhead into a pillow and cry. She did it three days ago. Does she has her reasons? Yes, Is anybody listening? She doesn’t know and she doesn’t want to make a sob story about this because of her love for the business of movies and feels it won’t let her down.
Neha also opened up on the challenges actors face in the industry, where they’re often advised to develop a thick skin. However, she laid emphasis that constantly facing rejection and judgment can be overwhelming. Adding that part that matters the most is that when you are not working, everybody around you is working. You see life pass by. The only difference between her and a newcomer is that she knows how to get past these things, and she has been anxious so many times
She gets so tired when there is no acting jobs for 3-4 years but by the grace of God, she is never out of work because she does so many things. It is exhausting but rewarding business,” she added.
