Yami Gautam is all set to play a character in the upcoming Tamil filmmaker Balaji Mohan directorial horror genre comedy titled ‘Nayi Naveli’, produced by Aanand L Rai. Following headlining in a serious courtroom drama, the actress will now lead a lighter yet layered film rooted in Indian folklore and mythology. The project goes on floors in February and marks Gautam’s first collaboration with Rai’s banner, Colour Yellow. The film is positioned as an ensemble entertainer with scale, humour, and emotional depth, offering the actor a sharp contrast from her recent work.
According to a report the makers of their upcoming horror comedy “Nayi Naveli” to be helmed by Tamil filmmaker Balaji Mohan and produced by Aanand L Rai’s Colour Yellow production house have locked Yami Gautam as the lead for the project. It will mark Yami’s first collaboration with Rai’s production house and will be a new territory for Yami. It’s an ensemble film.
‘Nayi Naveli’ draws from Indian folklore and mythology and is written by Divy Nidhi Sharma. Sharma previously penned ‘Sitaare Zameen Par’ ‘Laapataa Ladies’ and ‘Heeramandi The Diamond Bazaar’ .
This marks his second collaboration with Rai after the upcoming romance ‘Nakhrewaalii’.
Although the script is complete, currently the film in pre-production. The rest of the cast is still being locked. Director Balaji Mohan is best known for ‘Maari’. ‘Nayi Naveli’ will mark Mohan’s Hindi directorial debut.
Aanand L Rai is also all set to team up with Dhanush once again. Reportedly,.the filmmaker and producer plan for a third project with the South star, continuing a partnership that began with ‘Raanjhanaa’ and carried forward with ‘Tere Ishk Mein’.
