Musical rumble strips installed on Mumbai’s coastal route

India’s first ever Musical rumble strips installed on Mumbai’s coastal route. Notably the strips will create music when vehicles pass over them at a specific speed.
The coastal road is known as
“Dharmaveer, Swarajya Rakshak Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj” musical road was inaugurated on February 11, 2026 in the presence of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde.
Also present on the occasion were Hungary’s Consul General Ferenc Jari, former MP Rahul Shewale, and Additional Municipal Commissioner (Eastern Suburbs) Dr. Avinash Dhakane, along with other dignitaries.
The newly developed stretch on the Mumbai Coastal Road has emerged as India’s first “Melody Road.”
On the stretch from Nariman Point towards Worli, these musical strips will play the AR Rahman composed tune “Jai Ho” from the film Slumdog Millionaire for motorists driving over them.
Speaking at the event, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde said that similar musical road concepts may be introduced at other locations in the near future.
