Remarkably, as of February 2026, “Mardaani 3” has turned out to be the highest-grossing film in the franchise, leading to a “hat-trick of hits” for the actress in this role.
The film surpassed the lifetime collections of the earlier two installments.
Notably, the film has grossed over ₹47 crore net in India and over ₹71 crore worldwide within three weeks of its release.
Rani mentions that the film is “not just a film, it is a voice — a voice for every woman who refuses to be silenced”.
The actress celebrated the success by meeting with female police officers in Mumbai and is thrilled with the success of the film but she says the commercial landmark is secondary to the conversation the films have sparked around crimes against women.
The franchise, which follows Mumbai supercop Shivani Shivaji Roy as she confronts predators targeting women and children, has now run for 12 years and three films – each taking on a distinct social crime.
It will always be a call to address such crimes head on and tell us not to look away because it might not be affecting us.
